V Garden in Kent offers straightforward, authentic Chinese dining with a focus on Cantonese flavors—no fuss, just solid food. Located on East Valley Highway, it’s the kind of spot where locals come for the cuisine rather than the ambiance. The interior is casual and unpretentious, making it a comfortable setting for family meals or a relaxed dinner with friends.

The menu features a variety of traditional dishes that highlight fresh ingredients and bold flavors. Signature plates like the Roasted Squab, House Special Fried Rice, and Sautéed String Bean with Garlic Sauce represent the homestyle Cantonese cooking that V Garden is known for. Seafood options, including versatile preparations of sea bass, also draw in diners looking for something beyond the usual takeout routine. For those who appreciate a sharing-style meal, many dishes arrive in generous portions meant for passing around the table, accompanied by simple steamed rice.

Service here leans practical and friendly—staff are used to handling dine-in and to-go orders efficiently, often helping box leftovers, which is a thoughtful touch not always found at similar establishments. While the atmosphere is low-key rather than trendy, this aligns well with V Garden’s identity as a dependable neighborhood spot where the food speaks for itself.

Visits tend to go smoothly for both quick dinners and family gatherings. It’s particularly well-suited for people who value authentic Cantonese flavors without the bells and whistles—those who prioritize freshness, balance of textures, and traditional seasoning. The restaurant’s casual vibe means it fills up steadily around typical meal times, especially evenings and weekends, so plan accordingly for a comfortable experience.

For diners who stick around until the end of a meal, the complimentary warm dessert of tapioca pearls with taro in coconut milk offers a mild, nostalgic finish that echoes the home-cooked feel of the main courses.

In sum, V Garden serves as a solid, no-frills destination for anyone craving honest Cantonese fare in Kent. It’s not about atmosphere or modern design, but about straightforward, familiar flavors executed well and served with reliable, attentive care.

Randomly picked it because we wanted Cantonese food. It is an authentic no frills restaurant!! Come for food, not for ambience! The service was good enough! Duck and veggie were good but Hong Kong style crab was a little bland! May be ginger and shallot crab would have been better! Overall a good restaurant and will definitely return to try out other dishes! We were given free desert at the end!!

You'll only find the most authentic food here. Everything is so fresh. The duck had just enough fatty, meat, and crispy. The fish was awesome. We also get it half steamed and half made into soup and both excel in their taste. The honey crisp pork ribs are always a top choice for us. Loved that the fried calamari was like finger food for us. And their garlic satueed water spinaches bring the color and health to the table. They also come in such big portions that we had plenty to take to eat the next day, which not to mention, still tasted fresh even after the microwave. So lucky to have found this gem.

Why this restaurant gets such low review score? It is a really authentic one for Chinese food, especially the soup. Their service is excellent as well. They help with getting food into the to-go box, which is now rarely seen in Chinese restaurants service, no matter Seattle or the bay area. Price is also very reasonable. They deserve at least four stars. Since it’s now underscored a lot, I am giving it five stars.

Tasty Family-Style Chinese Dining V Garden Restaurant offers authentic Chinese family-style dining, where dishes are shared among the table and come with white rice. The portions are generous and reasonably priced. We came as a party of 3 adults and 1 child, ordered three dishes, and it was just the right amount of food. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming—perfect for a family meal. It's conveniently located inside the same building as 99 Ranch Market, which makes it a great spot to grab a bite after shopping. The bathroom was also clean, which is always appreciated. If you enjoy family-style Chinese meals, this place is worth a visit!

One of the best Chinese restaurants on the West Coast. We spent a few years in Southern California, 12 years in Northern California, including San Francisco. My wife and I are both in the food service business with over 40 years of combined experience. We come here very often, and we have never been disappointed. The food is always on point, very fresh and tasty. Prices are very reasonable. The staff is always friendly. We are cooks, foodies, and we highly recommend this restaurant.
